Tiered caching

A CDN setup where edge locations ask a smaller set of regional or upper-tier caches before the origin. Edges share what the upper tier holds, so the hit rate rises, and fewer requests reach the origin.

The Tiered caching Research (after Content delivery) makes CDN edges ask a regional tier before your origin. It raises the share of media requests that a CDN answers from 75% to 92% at the default TTL. Video that the CDN answers does not load your App Servers and is billed at the cheaper edge Egress price.
