ReferenceGlossary
DDoS (distributed denial of service)
An attack that floods a service with traffic from many machines at once, often a botnet, so real users cannot get through. Defenses filter junk at the edge and spread the load over many locations.

The DDoS Incident can start from Seed. It adds 50 times your normal demand as bot traffic for up to 60 s. A WAF filters bots at its paranoia level; turn on Under attack mode to block 99% of them, at the cost of 1% of real users and 40 ms more latency. The director picks a DDoS less often when you run a WAF.
