ReferenceGlossary
Cache warming
Filling a cache with likely data before it takes traffic, so that the first requests do not all miss. Teams warm a cache after a restart, a deploy, or when they add a new cache node, often by loading a snapshot or replaying recent keys.

A Cache that restarts comes back cold, and every miss goes to the database. Redis reloads half of its data by itself, and Memcached reloads none. After the Cache warming Research, you can turn on Warming on a Cache card: the Cache then comes back 80% warm after a restart or a Cache stampede. Stampede protection is the step before it and handles the misses that remain.
