ReferenceGlossary
CDN (content delivery network)
A network of cache servers in many locations that store copies of content close to users. A request that the nearest edge can answer never reaches the origin, so it is faster and costs the origin nothing.

Content delivery research unlocks the CDN Component. At the default 300 s TTL it answers 70% of page and 75% of media requests at the edge; a 60 s TTL lowers that by 20% and a 3,600 s TTL raises it by 20%, up to 95%. Edge Egress costs $0.02 per GB, against $0.09 per GB from App Servers. Tiered caching lifts the media hit rate to 92%.
