ReferenceGlossary
Circuit breaker
A switch on a call path that watches for failures. When too many calls fail, it opens and fails new calls at once for a while, so callers stop waiting and the struggling service can recover. Then it lets a few calls through to test whether the service is back.

After the Circuit breakers research, you can turn on a breaker for each Link. When more than half of the Link's calls fail, it opens for 5 s: it sends nothing, and its calls fail at once as refused. Then it closes and tries again. Circuit breakers are one of the three preventions for a Retry storm.
