GitOps

A way to run infrastructure where the desired state lives in Git as declarative code, and an agent such as Argo CD or Flux pulls it and keeps reconciling the live system to match. OpenGitOps lists four principles: declarative, versioned and immutable, pulled automatically, and continuously reconciled.

GitOps is Series C Research after Infrastructure as code. It applies each source change to every Mirror on its own, so Mirrors stop falling behind. It also reverts hand changes at the next sync with every IaC tool, like Argo CD with self-heal on, so overrides are the only way to tune a region. All at once syncs within 3 calendar minutes, like Argo CD's default poll. Staged holds a change on the source for 60 minutes first. All at once trades drift for blast radius: a Bad config push reaches every Mirror together.
