ReferenceGlossary
Bulkhead
A limit on how much of a caller's capacity, such as threads, connections, or slots, one dependency can use. When that dependency slows down, it fills only its own share, and calls to other dependencies keep working. The name comes from the walls that split a ship's hull into compartments.

No bulkhead setting exists yet: one slow dependency can fill every slot. On thread and process runtimes, each call holds the caller's slot until it answers or times out, 30 s by default. The closest tools are short Link timeouts (Timeouts and retries) and Circuit breakers, which stop calls to a failing Node.
